Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Build the frame
Begin by cutting the 2x4 lumber to the desired length and width of the well. Assemble the frame using wood glue and screws. Make sure the frame is square and level.
2. Attach the planks
Cut the cedar or redwood planks to the desired length and width. Attach the planks to the frame using wood glue and nails. Be sure to space the planks evenly.
3. Build the roof
Cut the plywood to the desired size for the roof. Attach the plywood to the frame using wood glue and screws. Cover the plywood with roofing felt and shingles.
4. Install the pulley
Install the pulley on the roof of the well. The pulley will be used to raise and lower the bucket.
5. Attach the bucket
Attach the bucket to the chain. The chain should be long enough to reach the bottom of the well.
6. Finish the well
Paint or stain the well to your desired finish. You can also add decorative touches, such as trim or molding.
